This project was an assignment from my PROD402: Costume Design Techniques class. The idea was to make a conical bodice in the style of the 1800s while having a character in mind. For my garment, I decided base my bodice of the character, Elide Lochan, from one of my favorite fantasy book series, “Throne of Glass”, by Sarah J. Mass. Process and final photos are below!

First Fitting!
Cutting on final fabric, on Duck Cloth, for first layer and to provide sturdiness to the bodice.
Continuation of cutting final fabric. Fabrics used: Duck Cloth and Linen.
Transferring boning pattern over to Duck Cloth.

Stitching layers together!
Adding boning and structure to bodice pieces.

Sewing layers for the arm pieces together at 1" seam allowance to provide any space for alterations, if needed.
Layers and structured boning are all sewn together with the bodice using 1" seam allowance.
Flat steel boning to provide more support and structure at the center front of the bodice where the grommets will be inserted.
